If you are wondering about a setting you can't change or you want to know about some things you can or can't do on your Huawei B315s modem for Rural Wireless Broadband, we have a collection of items here that might be able to help.

  1. Make sure your device is connected to your Huawei B315s via WiFi or Ethernet

  3. You will be presented with a login screen.

If you are having problems accessing the web interface via the above steps, you can try:

  2. Entering homerouter.cpe in the address bar (instead of 192.168.1.254)

Editing the LAN DNS Server (on DHCP)

It is not possible to change the DNS server addresses assigned by DHCP to LAN devices.

Editing the LAN IP/Gateway Address

The B315s modem’s LAN IP address can only be set to 192.168.x.x (where ‘x’ is customisable).  It is not possible to customise the LAN network to use the alternative (e.g. 10.x.x.x) IP address range.

Editing LAN Subnet Mask

The B315s modem does not support editing the LAN subnet mask.

Port Forwarding is currently not available as the network uses CGNAT (Carrier Grade NAT) for internet access, and CGNAT prevents direct access to customers WAN/IP Address on their Wireless Broadband device.

Changing DDNS Service Provider

The B315s modem supports only DynDNS.org DDNS

Bridge mode

The B315s modem does not support bridge mode.

Static IP address support

The B315s modem does not support static IP address.

Why can I see 4 WiFi Networks (SSID's)?

B315s modem has 4 SSIDs available. By default only 1 SSID is turned on with the other 3 SSIDs turned off.
If WiFi is turned off then on via the Web Interface, all 4 SSIDs will be turned on. You will need to manually turn off the other 3 SSIDs if you wish to have 1 SSID only turned on.
Enabling/disabling the SSIDs can be found in (Web Interface > Change settings > WLAN Basic Settings > WLAN module)

I can't change the WiFi Mode (e.g. 802.11g)

The B315s modem’s Wi-Fi mode is set by default to 801.11n and cannot be altered. The setting allows connections on 802.11b/g/n types, not just 802.11n.

What WiFi security modes does this modem support?

B315s modem supports 4 security modes:

  • None (open)

You can download the Huawei Hi-Link app from Apple iTunes or Google Play store.

This app lets you log into your modem from anywhere and view and manage settings such device information, who can access the modem, set time of day or download speed restrictions. Neat!

If the network mode indicator is red , it means there is no connection with the Spark 4G network. Your modem should however automatically reconnect to the network when it is available.

If this does not happen or you have been offline for some time, you can try reconnecting manually by either:

  1. Turn your modem off and on using the POWER button on the top of the modem.
  2. Go into your modem Web Interface (see Access the Web Interface above) and click the Connect button

USB drive formats supported

The B315s modem supports FAT32 formatted USB drives.
NTFS, HFS+ and ext file systems are not supported.
