Manage DNS settings

Find out what Spark's DNS server settings are. DNS, or Domain Name System, is the name of a network system used to translate names into IP addresses.

Spark's DNS servers

  • A DNS server is a database that has several public IP addresses.
  • We assign a primary and secondary DNS server on your computer, laptop or tablet.
  • We use several DNS servers, but these are the most common ones:

For broadband customers (business or residential)

Server IP address
ns1.xtra.co.nz (primary) 122.56.237.1
ns2.xtra.co.nz (secondary) 210.55.111.1

For Spark Digital customers

Server IP address
defiant.netgate.net.nz (primary) 202.37.245.17
reliant.netgate.net.nz (secondary) 202.37.245.20

For instructions on how to update DNS settings, get in touch with your operating system vendor. For example, Microsoft or Apple.
