Before setting up your Wireless, you will need to ensure you have set up your Modem (via the cables) first. Once you have done so and you can access the Internet (using the cables) you can then set up wireless from one of the two options below.

  1. Install Spark Broadband Assistant which helps to setup your wireless connection.
    This application requires Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 or higher or Mac OSX or higher.
    OR
  2. Select your modem below for the instructions needed specific to you. 
    If your modem isn't listed, please refer to its user guide and Modem settings for Spark Broadband. 
    If you use a computer operating system other than Windows or Mac, please contact your PC Technician for support.

Because you have a Spark supported modem and Windows on your computer you can use the Spark Broadband Assist.

Start the Spark Broadband Assist and click on the WI-FI Box for easy, step by step instuctions.

When you have finished with the Spark Broadband Assist your wireless internet should be working.

Is your internet working?

Your new wireless modem is ready for you to connect to. The wireless is enabled automatically with a security password. You can see your Network name and Wireless Key (password) on the bottom of the router.

You can customize your password and change the encryption on your wireless modem at any time.

Do you know how to connect your Mac to a wireless network?

  • Yes

    Note down the Wifi network and password to connect your Mac wirelessly.
     
    1. Click the Airport icon top right corner of your screen.
    2. Click ON.
    3. Click the Airport icon again and a window will open.
    4. Select the wireless network (displayed as SSID on the sticker on your modem).
    5. Enter the wireless network password (displayed as WLAN Key on the sticker on your modem).
    6. Select OK.
    7. Open up a new web browser (internet page), if you can can view a website you have successfully connected to the your secure wireless network.

Because a wireless network is accessible to anyone, within range of your wireless modem, you need to setup wireless security to prevent any unauthorised access.

Which security type would you like to use?

  • WPA - Highly recommended
     
    Follow these steps to setup WPA wireless on your Technicolor TG582n:
     
    1. Access the Modem Interface, by typing in 192.168.1.254 in the address bar of your web browser.
    2. Click Wireless under Home Network.
    3. Select Configure on the top right hand side of the screen.
    4. Feel free to adjust theNetwork Name (SSID)name - this is the name that you will see when searching for wireless networks to connect to.
    5. Click on WPA-PSK Encryption Key, under Encryption.
      For security purposed we recommend that you change this password, it is easier to remember and harder to hack.
    6. Click Apply when you have entered your password.
    7. Close the web browser (internet page).
    8. Click on the Airport icon top right corner of your screen.
    9. Click ON.
    10. Click on the Airport icon again and a window will open.
    11. Select the wireless network name you want to connect to.
    12. Enter the wireless network password (if no password is required it will automatically connect).
    13. Select OK.
    14. Remove the Ethernet Cable from the back of the router and your computer.
    15. Open up a new web browser (internet page), if you can can view a website you have successfully connected to the your secure wireless network.

  • WEP
     
    Follow these steps to setup WEP wireless on your Technicolor TG582n:
     
    1. Access the Modem Interface, by typing in 192.168.1.254 in the address bar of your web browser.

    4. Click Interface Enabled.
    5. Feel free to adjust the Network Name (SSID) - this is the name you will see when search for wireless networks to connect to.
    6. Select Use WEP Encryption.
      Type in a 10 character password containing numbers (0-9) and characters (A-F).
      If you change the cipher to 128 or 256 bit encryption use 26 and 58 characters respecitively.
    7. Click Apply, when you have entered your password.
    8. Close your Web Browser (internet page).
    9. Click on the Airport icon top right corner of your screen.
    10. Click ON.
    11. Click on the Airport icon again and a window will open.
    12. Select the wireless network name you want to connect to.
    13. Enter the wireless network password (if no password is required it will automatically connect).
    14. Select OK.
