Set up and use the Spark app

Find out about the Spark app and how to manage your account in the app. You can use the app to manage your account, check your data usage, top up or pay a bill.

Start using the Spark app

  • For Apple devices, the Spark app is no longer available on iOS 12. You can use the Spark app on iOS 13 and above. On iOS 12 devices, please visit signin.spark.co.nz to access MySpark in your web browser.
  • For Android devices, the Spark app is available on Android 9 and above. 
  • Get the Spark app from the App Store or Google Play and keep it updated. This way you'll always have access to the latest features.
  • To use the app, you'll need to sign in with an email address and password. This will be the same email address and password you use to sign in to MySpark online. If you haven't registered for MySpark, you'll first need to set up your Spark ID online or in the Spark app.  Set up your Spark ID
  • If you're on a corporate mobile plan, you can still use the app to check your usage but you won’t be able to manage the account
  • If you're signing in for the first time, you'll need to link your MySpark ID to your account. Then you can view and manage your account in the app. 
  • You'll need your account number, which you can view on your Spark bill. Or, you can link your account using your mobile number, but you'll need to verify your number with a code that we'll send in a text message.
  • Here's how to add your account:
    • In the MySpark section, choose Usage
    • Tap Get started
    • Follow the prompts to add your mobile and/or broadband services
  • Business accounts: If your account has a security PIN, you'll need to enter it to add a service. If you aren't sure of your PIN, you can message our team to have it changed or removed. Message us
  • If you try to add a phone number that's linked to a different account, the verification email will go to the account owner for approval. If you have more than one email account, the email might have gone to one of your other email addresses.
  • Here's how to add your new mobile and/or broadband services:
    1. Open the Spark App
    2. Sign in to your account
    3. Select the Product tab
    4. Scroll so you can see the "+ Add a new or existing product" sign
    5. Tap on the "+ Add a new or existing product" sign
    6. Follow the prompts to add your services to your Spark ID
  1. In the app, tap the menu button and choose MySpark
  2. Select Profile, then choose Spark ID
  3. Next to the password, select Change
  4. Enter your current password, then your new password
  5. We’ll email you to confirm the change was successful

An important note about passwords

  • Message our team if you get a prompt to enter a password you haven't set up. Message us
  • We can remove the password or change it to a four-digit PIN
  • If you set up a PIN, you'll need to enter it whenever you use the app
  1. Open the app and sign in
  2. Go to the MySpark section and tap on Usage
  3. You'll see your data usage next to any plans on your account
  4. View plan details and detailed usage by tapping on the usage message

Billing and payments

  • Use the Spark app to pay your bill or top up your Prepaid mobile pack.
  • You can also set up an automatic bill payment or auto top up

Pay your bill in the Spark app with a debit/credit card (surcharge applies) or bank account.

  1. In the app, tap the menu button and choose MySpark from the menu
  2. Sign in or register to access your account
  3. Choose Billing
  4. If you have a bill payment due, you'll be able to choose Pay bill
  5. Follow the steps to finish paying your bill
Use the Spark app to top up any Spark Prepaid mobile.
  1. Tap the menu button and choose MySpark from the menu
  2. Sign in or register to access your account
  3. On the Billing screen, you'll see the option to top up your Prepaid pack
  4. On the line you want to top up, choose Top up
  5. Choose an amount between $10 and $100
  6. Select a payment method. You can use a voucher or debit/credit card to top up.
  7. If you have saved a payment method in the app, it's already selected. Tap Change to use a different payment method.
  8. Slide to pay

Set up auto top up for your Prepaid pack.

  1. In the app, tap the menu button and choose MySpark from the menu
  2. Sign in or register to access your account
  3. On the Billing screen, tap the message about your balance
  4. You'll see the option to set an auto top up if you haven't already
  5. Choose an amount between $10 and $100
  6. Choose whether you'd like to top up every 4 weeks or when your balance is low
  7. If you have saved a payment method in the app, it's already selected. Tap Change to use a different payment method.
  8. Review and confirm the auto top up
Change or cancel an auto top up that you've already set.
  1. In the app, tap the menu button and choose MySpark from the menu
  2. Sign in to access your account
  3. On the Billing screen, you'll see the option to manage your existing auto top up
  4. Choose Edit or Cancel auto top up

To change your payment method, you'll need to set up a new payment method first, then remove the existing payment method.

  1. In the app, tap the menu button and choose MySpark from the menu
  2. Sign in to access your account
  3. On the Profile screen, scroll down and select Payment options
  4. Tap the plus sign (+) in the top right to add a new payment method and choose whether you want to add a credit/debit card or bank account
  5. Enter your details to finish adding the payment method
  6. In the payment options screen, select the payment method you want to remove
  7. Tap Remove bank account or Remove card to remove the payment method
  1. Tap on the Products tab and select the product line to set up the data cap limit and view details
  2. Scroll so you can see the option for "Casual NZ data limit" in $NZ dollars. You'll need to have owner access level to be able to change this value
  3. Tap Change to set the new limit and select Set a new limit or Go unlimited
  4. Select the limit from the bar and tap confirm
  5. Your new limit will be displayed in the product details
  • Setting the limit to unlimited will mean charges will incur without restriction

Roaming

  1. Sign in to the Spark app and select MySpark from the main Menu
  2. Tap on the Products tab and select the product line to view the details page
  3. Scroll down the details page to view the roaming packs and rates button
  4. Search and select your roaming destinations to review the casual rates and packs available at your destinations
  5. Select your roaming pack and a review screen will appear, read and tick yes to the terms and conditions
  6. Swipe the button to confirm and add the pack on your account or proceed to the payment journey for prepaid customers
  7. Purchased roaming packs will appear in the products details

  • Roaming usage: currently the roaming pack usage can only be accessed from MySpark online  
  1. Tap on the Products tab and select the product line to set up the data cap limit and view details
  2. Scroll down to Roaming and you will see the limit in $NZ dollars
  3. Tap Change to set the new limit and select Set a new limit or Go unlimited
  4. Select the limit from the bar and tap confirm
  5. Your new limit will be displayed in the product details under roaming

  • Setting the limit to unlimited will mean charges will incur without restriction
  • Setting roaming data caps is available for Pay Monthly customers only. Not available for Prepaid
  • Roaming data cap limit is set at $150 by default unless it is modified
