How prepaid works

The texts, minutes and data you get in our Value Packs expire one calendar month after you buy them.

Included minutes can be used any time of the day or week. They are for National calling only

Your Data is in addition to any Extra, Value Pack or Bonus you already have. The Extra, Value Pack or Bonus Data that expires first will get used first.

Fair use policy applies on the free text offer to limit excessive and unreasonable use.

Text allocations can be used for person to person text messages to any New Zealand network.

If you have an existing Extra or Value Pack, remember to stop it if you no longer want it.

If your balance is less than needed we will text you to let you know you need to top up. If you don't top up we will text you to let you know the subscription has been placed on hold for up to 5 days. You will be charged at the Prepaid Plans casual rates over this time. If you don't top up we will text you to let you know the subscription has not been renewed and then you'll be able to top up and re-purchase a subscription. If you do top up during this 5 day period it is important to know that your original renewal date will stay the same (for example if you purchased your Extra on 21 October and did not have enough credit for it to automatically renew on 22 November but you top up on 25 November your Extra next renewal date will be 22 December). So to make the most of your Extra we strongly encourage you to top up before your renewal date.

Terms and conditions - Free Socialiser for 6 months

The Free Socialiser 1GB/month offer is available from 18 October 2016 – 4 January 2017. It will be valid for 6 months from the date you opt in. To activate you must be on an eligible pack or plan. You will need to keep your pack or plan renewed (prepaid customers will need to ensure they top up) to continue to receive it for free.

In the promotional period a customer can only have one instance of the Free Socialiser subscription per line.

You can keep your Free Socialiser if you move between eligible plans.

Socialiser is for New Zealand domestic data traffic only, if you roam internationally you will incur normal data roaming charges. Socialiser is only available when using the official application for Facebook, Twitter and Spotify from a compatible phone. 1GB Spotify allowance includes music streaming only.

Excludes Facebook SMS, other alert services, and accessing video and content hosted on other sites. Access via any other means including 3rd party applications will use existing data in your plan or incur plan additional data charges applicable on your prepaid and pay monthly plan. There are some functions within the Spotify app that may be excluded from the offer and will use data from your plan. These include:

  • Video streaming

  • Album artwork displayed on screen

  • Any analytics sent from the music provider to understand your music preferences and usage

  • Authentication, for example, when the app confirms your login

Most smartphones are set to seek data automatically in the background (e.g. email or other apps). This will use the internet and, in some cases, charges will apply.

In some cases, as per Facebook policy, cached Facebook data takes 24 hours to refresh and therefore users may see chargeable data. To manually clear the cache we recommend uninstalling the app and reinstalling it.

In some cases charges will apply including but not limited to the following:

  • The use of voice and video call features

  • External links in newsfeed, timelines, walls, etc

  • External URLs in comments, messages, etc

  • Links to applications

  • Links to external advertisements

  • Enabling or navigating to features that rely on location services

  • Facebook features that navigate you out of the site and/or application such as "Get Directions", "Buy Tickets", etc. and/or importing contacts from an external email domain, clicking on a user's clicking on a user's email address and so on

  • Background camera app usage on Facebook

  • Pages Manager apps on Facebook
