Learn about WiFi security

Your Spark modem's WiFi network comes with WiFi security.

Find out about the different codes on the back of your modem and where to find your network/WiFi password.

What is WiFi?

WiFi is the wireless network your computer, tablet or mobile uses to connect to the internet.

If you have a Spark modem, it's set up with a password to keep your WiFi connection secure. This stops people from connecting to your network and using your data.

WEP, WPA and WPA2

  • WEP, WPA and WPA2 are types of WiFi security.
  • Spark modems work with WPA- and WPA2-compatible devices.
  • WEP is the oldest security standard. We no longer support this level of security.

Network name (SSID)

On the back or the base of your modem there is a sticker that has its default WiFi network name (SSID).

The WiFi network name (SSID) is unique to your modem.

WiFi password

On the back or base of your modem, you'll find your WiFi password. Look for the wireless local area network key (WLAN), encryption key or network password.
