Auto Pay changes

This page has been updated on 4 December 2018 to include the changes for failed transactions.

We’re making changes to the way you can buy and automatically renew your prepaid pack or extra

  • We're launching an easier way to pay from Thursday, 15 November 2018. You'll be able to buy a prepaid pack or extra with your credit/debit card without having to top up.
  • We’re also making changes to the way you renew your pack or extra. On Thursday 15 November we’ll remove the option to Auto Pay. Previously, Auto Pay allowed you to automatically top your account balance, which would automatically be used to purchase a pack or extra. Now, we'll automatically renew the pack or extra from your credit/debit card at the time of renewal.

Note: The full amount for the pack or extra will be debited from your credit/debit card. If for any reason your transaction fails, we'll attempt to renew the pack or extra from your prepaid balance for five days. If you have remaining prepaid balance, this can be used to buy more one-off text, data and calling extras.

  • If you don't want to renew with your credit/debit card, you can still choose to renew with your prepaid credit balance when you purchase packs and extras. You'll just need to make sure there is always enough credit balance at the time of the renewal.

Automatic purchases are the most convenient way to pay for packs and extras

Setting up an automatic payment is easy and gives you the convenience of set and forget. You can still manage your current payments in the Spark app or MySpark as normal. Set up Auto Renew now

I already use automatic purchases, what changes for me?

Nothing changes for you but you may want to consider changing to an Auto Renew so you don’t end up with left over prepaid credit balances.

Nothing changes for you but you may want to add your debit or credit card details so you can set it and forget. But you’ll still have five days to top up after expiry so your pack or extra automatically renews.

You won’t notice any changes. Instead of having to top up and then buy your $19 value pack with your balance, we’ll process the payment for the $19 Value Pack straight from your card. The amount and the date all stay the same and you’ll still be able to manage it in the Spark app or MySpark.

When you set up Auto Renew for a pack or extra after the 14 of November, we’ll now give you the option to set up a credit or debit card to make the automatic payment. Or you can choose to have it come off your prepaid credit balance. If you choose renew from balance, you’ll need to top up within five days of your pack or extra expiring. Set up Auto Renew now

You can turn your Auto Renew off at any time via the Spark app or MySpark and use it to buy other extras, or for your next pack purchase. Just remember to switch Auto Renew back on for your next pack.
