This Spark Mobile Open Plan is available for Spark Business and Consumer customers. No sharers can be added to this plan.

Your Data

Unlimited data for personal NZ use on your mobile only. Excludes Roaming data. Max speeds reduced after 40GB of data usage per billing cycle. You will still be able to use your data like you did before but you will experience some degradation (such as lower video resolution) when watching video, streaming or loading images.

Calls & Texts

You get unlimited calls and texts to standard NZ and Australian numbers (you need to be texting another person). Excludes premium and special numbers and roaming.

Machine to machine services, tethering, mobile hotspots or any other similar activity that Spark considers to be non-standard personal usage is prohibited (“Prohibited Usage”). If we consider you are engaging in Prohibited Usage we may ask you to stop such usage and if it continues, remove your subscription immediately with notice.

Network Management

Service may be slowed, suspended, terminated, or restricted for misuse or interference with our network. Spark reserves the right to remove the offer or the plan from the market (and recommend migration to the best alternative plan) in accordance with our standard terms.

Plan Transfer

Pay Monthly customers who have a Minimum Term and want to move to any Open Term plan, including “Spark Unlimited Mobile Plan”, will have to pay any applicable disconnection fees. Refer to our Schedule of Disconnection Fees and Termination Charges

Devcies are sold separately from plans.

What does the Spark Freedom mobile plan include?

The Spark Freedom mobile plan includes Spotify, Lightbox, Thanks and 1 GB WiFi/day. It also includes these:

  • Non-stop Data – NZ data only
  • Unlimited Talk – NZ & AUS
  • Unlimited Text – NZ & AUS

It exclude subsidy, tethering and hotspots.

What does Non-stop Data mean?

With the Spark Freedom mobile plan, you will receive Unlimited Talk (NZ & AUS), Unlimited Text (NZ & AUS) and non-stop Data (NZ only). Non-stop NZ data means you can browse the Web, stream content, upload, download and play games. While there are no strict data caps, after 40GB of data usage, Spark will slow data speeds for the remainder of the billing cycle. Tethering and mobile hotspot use is prohibited and it’s limited to mobile devices only.

Who is eligible for the Spark Freedom plan?

Spark Consumer and Business customers are eligible for the Spark Freedom plan. 

How much is the Spark Freedom mobile plan?

The Spark Freedom mobile plan costs $113.03 per month exclusive of GST.

Are there limits to what I can stream or how I can use my data?

With the Spark Freedom mobile plan, you can browse the Web, stream content, upload, download and play games. After 40GB of data usage, Spark will slow data speeds for the remainder of the billing cycle. What this means in practice is while the customer will still be able to browse, they will experience degradation when watching video, streaming or loading images. Tethering and mobile hotspot use is prohibited and it’s limited to mobile devices only.

Why does Spark exclude tethering and hotspots?

To protect the data experience for all customers on our network, the Spark Freedom plan does not include mobile hotspot/tethering.

How will you know if I’m tethering or hotspotting?

Spark reserves the right to monitor data usage and customer volumes, to ensure customers are complying with our terms of use. Service may be slowed, suspended, terminated, or restricted for: misuse, or interference with our network.

Is the Spark Freedom plan compatible with tablets?

No, the Spark Freedom plan is restricted for mobile use only, and cannot be used on any other device, including SIM enabled tablets., t-sticks, hotspots, or modems.

What if I put my SIM into one of your Spark wireless modem or t-stick?

The Spark Freedom plan is restricted for mobile use only. Spark reserves the right to monitor data usage and customer volumes, to ensure customers are complying with terms of use. Service may be slowed, suspended, terminated, or restricted for: misuse, or interference with our network.

Can I share my Freedom plan allocations: data, text and minutes?

The Spark Freedom plan is a stand-alone plan. Spark Sharer plans cannot be added to this plan; therefore, no plan allocations can be shared with any other user. Prohibited use of tethering and hotspots also means that sharing data via these means is also restricted.

Can Business customers get Lightbox?

Lightbox on the Spark Freedom mobile plan; for personal use only. Lightbox terms apply, for personal use only (no commercial use or further distribution).

Is there a Spark Freedom plan option for term customers?

No, the Spark Freedom plan is mobile open term customers only, and excludes subsidies.

What if a term customer wants to transfer to the Spark Freedom plan?

Pay Monthly customers who have a Minimum Term and want to move to any Open Term plan, including Spark Freedom plan, will have to pay Disconnection Fees before connecting to an Open Term plan. Refer to the Schedule of Disconnection Fees and Termination Charges

I’m on a Wireless Broadband plan. Can I get Freedom Data?

No, customers on Wireless Broadband plans aren't eligible for Freedom Data. The Spark Freedom plan is not designed to replace home broadband. Tethering and hotspot use is prohibited, and data speeds will be monitored and may vary. Wireless Broadband provides a more suitable level of service to support the way customers use the internet at home.
