Service description

Unplan is a broadband plan that flexes with you. Based on your usage each month, you are automatically moved between three price tiers. It gives you the freedom to use more and savings when you use less.

Unplan on Fibre Basic connects your home to our network via a fibre optic connection to your house.

Fibre Basic runs on the Ultra Fast Broadband network, using what's called a 30Mbps standard network profile, or a 50MBps standard network profile depending on your Local Fibre Company. Addresses in Whangarei, Hamilton, Whanganui, New Plymouth, Tokoroa, Hawera, Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Tauranga and Christchurch will have a Fibre service with the ability to deliver speeds up to 30mbps downstream and 10mbps upstream. The rest of NZ will have a service able to deliver up to 50Mbps downstream and 10Mbps upstream.

There are four services available on Fibre Basic:

If you have a landline with your Unplan Fibre Basic, your landline will also stop working if there is a problem with your Unplan Fibre Basic service. In these circumstances you will not be able to call emergency services.

You should check with the provider of existing services such as some medical alerts, monitored home alarms, and interactive features of SKY TV to make sure they will work with this service.

Effects On Other Services

Unplan Fibre Gigatown services

Your broadband service requires mains power to operate. If power is not available (e.g. during an outage), your broadband, landline and any services that run over the Unplan Fibre Gigatown, may stop working.

If you have a landline with your Unplan Fibre Gigatown, your landline will also stop working if there is a problem with your Unplan Fibre Gigatown service. In these circumstances you will not be able to call emergency services.

You should check with the provider of existing services such as some medical alerts, monitored home alarms, and interactive features of SKY TV to make sure they will work with this service.

Unplan Fibre Gigatown and Unplan Entertainment Fibre Gigatown

These services do not come with a phone line. This means that services that use a landline phone line, such as some medical alerts, monitored home alarms, faxes, the interactive features of SKY digital or PABXs are incompatible with these services.

Other Charges

Unplan Fibre Gigatown with Landline and Unplan Entertainment Fibre Gigatown with Landline come with a landline. Your local calls are free. We do charge for national, international and mobile calls, but have a range of calling plans to suit most people.

In some cases, additional install charges might apply. Typically, this happens if your house is more than 200m from the road, or if we need to put some new wiring in your house.

  • Unplan Entertainment Wireless with Landline comes with a landline and phone number as well as your broadband and includes Standard Lightbox (plus 6 months’ of Netflix on us).

The landline connects you to the public phone network so you can make local, national, international and mobile calls from your home phone. Your home phone service runs on our fibre network.

Standard Lightbox means you can stream concurrently up to 2 devices for TV shows.

6 months’ of Netflix on us means the Netflix Standard (HD) Streaming Plan is included. This means you can stream TV shows and movies on 2 devices at the same time and in HD. It also lets you download titles to 2 phones or tablets.

If either of the factors listed in (a) or (b) changes during the term of our agreement, we may migrate you (at our absolute discretion) to an alternative technology or a new plan using the same technology.

If your usage on Unplan Wireless Broadband exceeds 180GB in any month (for 3 consecutive months) OR if usage exceeds 300GB in any month, Spark will contact you to discuss an alternate technology or solution. If you are not satisfied with this new technology or new plan, you may terminate your Unplan broadband service within 30 days of our notice to you or within 30 days of the date of the migration (whichever is later) and we will not charge you an early termination fee in respect of your Unplan service base plan.

There are certain things that, despite our best efforts, we cannot guarantee or provide in relation to the Unplan Broadband Service.
