Given the scale of construction projects that Dempsey Wood works on throughout the year, the requirement of being able to rely on its mitigation systems to manage complaints and to support internal compliance monitoring has become ever more important.
Industry proven sensors monitor environmental site parameters of noise, vibration and dust. Data from the sensors is passed on to the Adroit platform via the Spark Cat-M1 network, to provide a real time monitoring system. This solution is customisable to specific sites and is modular, cost effective and scalable.

IoT to help solve environmental compliance in the construction industry
Employing over 500 staff to-date and having over 30 active sites most days, Dempsey Wood is involved in projects of significant size throughout the year. Having to use heavy machinery on worksites within busy residential areas, often governed by strict consent limits around emission of dust, noise and vibration has constantly been a challenge. Furthermore, maintaining a positive relationship with nearby residents is crucial, with complaints having the potential to cause disruption to projects at least while the investigation takes place.
Moving to a real time reporting system was attractive to Dempsey Wood to ensure safe, comfortable conditions for people, both onsite and in surrounding areas to work and live in, as well as to help mitigate complaints and to support internal compliance monitoring.
The solution provides sensors that monitor environmental parameters of noise, vibration and dust. Data from the sensors once transferred to the Adroit Platform dashboard via Spark Cat-M1 network, is represented visually as real time data with the ability to download .csv files. Alerts and notifications can be received via email, and iOS and Android apps, and APIs are available so data can be used on other platforms or databases.
Additionally, more sensors can be added to monitor different parameters such as sediment in water run-off and weather conditions. Noise data collected by sensors can also derive values to represent average and peak sound levels experienced on the site, to help manage site compliance.
This solution provides great confidence in Dempsey Wood’s control methods to aid management of site compliance, as well as providing accuracy and verification when dealing with complaints.
