Basic Wireless Broadband

Our Basic Wireless Broadband plan is a landline plan that uses our 4G network and comes with 40GB of data to keep you connected online.

  • Free local calling
  • 40GB data
  • $0.24 per minute national calling capped at $3 for up to two hours
  • $0.39 per minute mobile calling capped at $5 for up to two hours
  • Includes the Connector feature pack with voicemail, caller display and call waiting

A connection charge of $106.20 applies which covers the cost of the Spark modem required. This cost can be paid over a term of interest free payments. See interest free options

This charge doesn't apply if you already have your own Spark Wireless modem.

Some equipment and services may not work on Wireless, such as monitored home and medical alarms, fax machines, some older phones and special phones.

Wireless won't work in a power cut, so we recommend having a charged mobile handy for emergencies. If you or someone in your household relies on their landline for health, safety or disability reasons, you may be able to apply to be listed as a vulnerable consumer.

We have calling add-ons to suit your calling needs. Here are a couple of our most popular options.

Everyday national calling


$14 per month
Call as much as you like to New Zealand landlines for up to two hours per call.

Talk it up NZ and Australia


$25 per month
Call as much as you like to landlines in New Zealand, Australia, Chatham Islands, Norfolk Islands and Scott Base for up to two hours per call.

  • Wireless Landline is only available in certain 4G coverage areas. 4G coverage isn't available everywhere. We also have Copper and Fibre landline plans available in many areas. Fibre is only available where Copper or Wireless are not.
  • You may only use your Spark Wireless modem to receive the service at the installed location. If you use it at another location we may suspend, disconnect or restrict your home wireless landline service without notice. If you move house, let us know beforehand so we can check the options available at your new house and get you set up for your move.
  • **Spark Wireless Landline uses a Spark Wireless modem which requires mains power. This means the landline or devices such as cordless phones and other devices (like medical alarms) may not be able to work - even if they have a battery. This could impact your ability to contact 111 emergency services. We recommend you have an alternative method, such as a charged mobile phone or a power backup device such as, an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to keep you connected.
  • Vulnerable Consumers: If you’re a Spark account holder and either you or someone in your household needs to contact 111 emergency services on your landline for medical, disability or security reasons, Spark will provide eligible customers a suitable device to contact 111 in the event of a power cut. To apply you’ll need to download and complete a Vulnerable Consumer form, after you have submitted your order. For more information visit www.spark.co.nz/vulnerable
  • Under the Commerce Commission’s 111 Contact Code, it’s our responsibility to provide extra support to people who qualify for it, for health, disability or safety reasons. Whatever the situation, we’ll never refuse to provide you with a landline just because you need this extra support.
  • If you have a monitored alarm that uses your landline, you’ll need to update it to a wireless option. Most medical alarm providers offer wireless monitoring solutions. It's important that you arrange this with your provider.
  • Wireless Landline doesn't use a copper connection or phone jackpoints in your home. You can use portable cordless phones if you need multiple phones in your home. These are available from Spark.
  • *We have a Fair Use policy in place to make sure people don’t take advantage of our great calling rates. This is based on the average of what most people use in a home setting. If we think you’re going too far over this, we’ll get in touch and ask you to keep an eye on things. If you don’t cut down your usage, we might need to charge you, or even remove the service from your account. The following uses would be considered excessive:
    • Business use
    • Automated call messaging
    • Monitoring services
    • Broadcast fax
    • Outbound call centres.
  • Call any national landline for $0.24 per minute and never pay more than $3 for up to two hours per call. After two hours, our standard rates apply. National calling applies to direct dial voice calls from your home line to landlines in New Zealand and excludes:
    • Calling cards
    • 059
    • 0161
    • Premium numbers (0900 and any international equivalent)
    • Calls made via Home 0800 or international 0800
  • Call any New Zealand mobile for $0.39 per minute and never pay more than $5 when you talk for up to two hours per call. After two hours, our standard rates apply. This doesn’t include calls to overseas visitors roaming in New Zealand.

Spark's modem for Wireless Landline

The modem we use is the Huawei B618. It has:

  • Two gigabit Ethernet LAN ports
  • One RJ11 port for wireless landline
  • One USB2 port to support external hard drives or a printer

You can buy a modem from Spark with a one-off payment or on Spark’s interest free payment terms. Alternatively, you can choose to use your own modem, but you’ll need to use a compatible modem that was purchased from Spark.
