I've got fibre landline,
how do I set it up?

There's two ways to connect your fibre landline in your home:

  1. Have one phone connected to the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) installed by your Local Fibre Company
  2. Have one or more phones connected to existing jackpoints via Integrated Wiring.

Connecting to the ONT

Using the phone cable that came with your modem...

  1. Connect your landline phone to the first phone port of the ONT labelled POTS1 or TEL1. It looks like this:
    ONT ports POTS1 and POTS2
  2. Your phone should be working now. If problems persist, try these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

Connecting to Integrated Wiring

If you have a faceplate (pictured below), near your Optical Network Terminal (ONT) you have Integrated Wiring. This means you are able to plug your phones into the jackpoints and they'll work similar to copper landline.

If you don't see this faceplate, then you will need to plug your phone directly into the ONT.

Picture below is a Chorus Faceplate. The look may be different for other LFC's.

  1. Locate the faceplate that was installed next to your ONT
  2. Unplug the cable from the right-most port (2) on the faceplate. (It will be the smaller end)
  3. Plug the cable into the POTS1 port of the ONT
  4. Wait a few minutes to allow the change to take effect before trying out your phones. Do not restart or power off the ONT
  5. All your phones should be up and running!
If your phones are not working, repeat steps 3 and 4 using POTS2/TELE2 port on the ONT.
