Service overview

Service description

ADSL is our standard broadband service for residential customers. It connects your home to our network via a copper connection to your house. From there, we connect you to the internet using our extensive international network.
ADSL Broadband and landline means you’ll get a landline and a phone number as well as your broadband. The landline connects you to the public phone network so you can make local, national, international and mobile calls from your home phone.

Availability

Our ADSL Broadband services are available in almost all areas of New Zealand. So if there are copper phone lines running in your area, there's a good chance you can get broadband as well.

Traffic Management

We don't place any artificial speed restrictions on our broadband plans, unless you have selected the 'Slow down your connection' if you reach your monthly data cap option. This means that you will receive the best speed we can provide at any point in time. In the future we may have to amend this policy to ensure we continue to provide our customers the best possible experience on our network. If we make any changes to this policy which will have a material impact on you we will let you know.

Fair Use

We don't run a Fair Use Policy on any of our ADSL Broadband plans.

Effects On Other Services

ADSL Broadband: As ADSL runs over a standard phone line it doesn’t have adverse effects on other services in your home, like a monitored alarm, SKY TV or a fax machine. We always recommend checking with the provider of any existing services like these to make sure they will operate with this service. Also be aware that in the event of a power outage, your phone line will continue to work as normal (so long as your home phone does not require power), but broadband will not.

Naked ADSL Broadband: Naked broadband means you will lose your landline. If you have a monitored alarm, medical alarm, fax, or order pay per view movies, these services will no longer work without a landline. If you need those services, Naked broadband is not for you.

Other Charges

Our ADSL packages also come with a landline. Your local calls are free. We do charge for national, international and mobile calls, but have a range of calling plans to suit most people.

In some cases you might need to pay a $199 broadband wiring fee. Typically, this happens if your connection is brand new, your line has been disconnected for some time, you're using more than 5 jackpoints in your house, or you have a monitored alarm.

See Broadband terms and conditions on our website for more details on this.
