Fair Use Policy for Wireless Broadband.

A Fair Use Policy applies to our uncapped Wireless Broadband plans Unplan Metro and Business Flexible Broadband. This policy allows us to protect our network so all Wireless Broadband customers can have a good experience using our service.

This means you can't use the service in a way that is overly excessive or unreasonable. The policy is based on how most people use the service and helps us make sure everyone using it gets to enjoy it.

Currently the amount of data you can use on your plan in each monthly usage period before it's considered excessive is 1TB.

The Fair Use Policy is part of the terms and conditions for your plan, which you can read here:

What happens if you use too much data?

If you use more data than the Fair Use Policy allows, we'll contact you by email or SMS.

1. We'll let you know you've used more than 1TB in your monthly usage period.

To stay on your current plan, you'll need to reduce the amount of data you use.

Tips for managing your data usage:

  • Keep track of your data usage. We have some great tools via MySpark online or the Spark app to help you keep track of your usage. Check my usage
  • Be mindful of activities that could be using a lot of your data, such as constant downloading of large files, apps updating in the background or a lot of high-speed online gaming.
  • If you’re watching or streaming a lot of TV shows or movies in ultra-high definition, consider adjusting the quality or resolution.

2. We'll give you options if you've used more than 1TB again the next month.

If you've used more than 1TB of data for a second monthly usage period, your current plan isn't right for you. We'll send you another email or SMS to let you know. You'll then have 30 days to decide what to do.

Your options are:

  • Change to another broadband technology. You won't need to pay any contract exit fees. To see what's available at your address, use our online checker or chat with us.

  • Stay on this plan, but if you use more than 1TB next month we'll change it. The new plan will reduce your speed to 5Mbps when you go over 1TB.

If you prefer to stay on this plan, you can. If your usage is still excessive in the next monthly usage period, we'll change your plan so it reduces your speed to 5Mbps when you use over 1TB in each monthly usage period.

At 5Mbps you can still do most things, like browse the internet, check your emails, message people and stream music. However, when you're streaming videos you’ll only be able to watch at standard definition and it may affect some online gaming. You can try out this option and see if it works for you. There's no fixed term so you can cancel with 30 days’ notice.

  • Leave Spark Broadband. If you want to leave Spark because of this change to your plan, we won’t charge you any termination fee on your current plan. If you’d like to take this option please chat with us
