Temperature and air quality monitoring top sellers for 2023

In a world where fast and accurate data is crucial to profitability, more and more New Zealand businesses want to save money through automated data gathering, analysis and reporting. With Spark IoT’s smart sensor technology monitoring temperature and air quality, businesses are making data-driven decisions that save thousands of dollars by preventing stock loss and enhancing workspace health.

Indoor environment monitoring increasing across industries

In 2023, Spark IoT temperature and air quality monitoring devices have proven to be the most popular, and for good reason. When your business relies on the integrity of temperature-sensitive products, manual tracking of refrigeration performance can be time-consuming and unreliable. From food and beverage to medical supplies, IoT customers want solutions that prevent small mistakes leading to big problems.

Research shows people's productivity is directly affected by comfort levels, making factors such as temperature, humidity and air quality in workspaces integral to a healthy and profitable workplace. With people spending one-third of their lives at work and indoor air pollution shown to be higher than outdoor, monitoring of these components is becoming a bigger focus for smart businesses globally.

2023’s most popular sensors deployed in IoT Bridge

Our range of Netvox, Milesight, Efento and AirSuite devices tops the list for businesses that require highly accurate real-time data in indoor environments - from sub-zero temperatures in cold chain management to CO2 levels in offices and retail applications.

Milesight AM319-Formaldehyde

Temperature, humidity, formaldehyde and CO2 (400 – 2000ppm), occupancy, light, TVOC, barometric pressure, PM2.5, PM10.

This 9-in-1 sensor is ideal for monitoring indoor environments in factories, workshops, worksites and manufacturing facilities to ensure safety, air quality, comfort and efficiency.

Real-time temperature and air quality monitoring solutions prove invaluable

Before automated temperature monitoring, PGG Wrightson’s manual checking of its stock was labour-intensive, sporadic and inaccurate. With the company housing millions of dollars of temperature-sensitive products, the stakes were simply too high to continue with unreliable processes. Engaging in proof-of-concept testing at one of its sites, PGG Wrightson installed IoT temperature monitoring devices in its vaccine chiller, wine chiller and velvet freezer. Within weeks, the sensors alerted staff to two incidents that saved the company thousands of dollars.

Hawke’s Bay District Health Board is responsible for storing many medications within certain temperature ranges to maintain their efficacy. Traditionally, hospital staff were spending too many hours monitoring refrigerated medication manually by checking and logging each fridge's temperature daily. If something did go wrong, response times were often too slow to save valuable medications before they were ruined. Spark IoT collaborated with Hawke’s Bay DHB to deploy temperature and humidity sensors on Spark’s LoRaWAN network. All devices were managed through the Spark IoT Bridge dashboard. With smart sensor technology installed, staff are now able to gather and manage data efficiently and rectify any temperature problems within minutes.

Smart, healthy workspaces are productive workplaces. Poor ventilation has been linked to lower energy levels and cognitive function. Indoor comfort levels are affected by factors such as light, noise, temperature, and humidity. Research shows these factors directly influence productivity, so it’s no wonder AirSuite’s Indoor Air sensor is a key device in our indoor monitoring portfolio.

Accurate, efficient, and smart monitoring solutions

Spark IoT’s temperature and air quality monitoring solutions allow employees to react quickly to save stock, fix equipment and keep staff and customers happy. IoT's smart sensor technology provides accurate and consistent insight into the state of hot, cold and ambient environments. This technology is particularly useful for refrigerators and freezers that need to keep food or medical supplies within a specific temperature range. It is also beneficial in office, retail and hospitality settings where comfort levels are a top priority.

These smart sensor devices are connected to the Spark IoT network and managed with the central IoT Bridge dashboard to collect, analyse and report real-time data across indoor environmental factors, such as:

  • Temperature
  • Humidity
  • Carbon monoxide levels
  • Noise pollution
  • Light levels
  • Smoke and more

With the flexibility to customise notifications, alerts, reports and recipients, decision-makers can take a proactive approach to ensure product integrity and productivity levels are optimised at all times.
