Set up and manage Spotify Premium

Find out how to add, activate and manage Spotify Premium with Spark and what to do if you already have an active Spotify Premium account.

Add Spotify Premium

If you don't have Spotify Premium included in your plan, you can add it in MySpark or the Spark app.

Spark app

  1. Open the Spark app
  2. Select MySpark from the Menu and sign in if you are asked to
    Note: If you don't have a MySpark account yet, you can follow these steps to create one. Set up and use MySpark
  3. Select Subscriptions under the Products section
  4. Select Add a new subscription
  5. Follow the steps to add Spotify Premium
  6. Before you can start using Spotify Premium you need to activate it. Once you've finished adding Spotify Premium you'll receive a notification in the next 15 minutes when it's ready to activate.

MySpark

  1. Sign in to MySpark
    Note: If you don't have a MySpark account yet, you can follow these steps to create one. Set up and use MySpark
  2. Select Subscriptions under the Products section
  3. Select Add a new subscription
  4. Follow the steps to add Spotify Premium
  5. Before you can start using Spotify Premium you need to activate it. Once you've finished adding Spotify Premium you'll receive a notification in the next 15 minutes when it's ready to activate.

If you don't activate Spotify Premium within its first subscription cycle (30 days for Pay Monthly mobile and broadband, 28 days for Prepaid), it will be cancelled.

  • For Pay Monthly mobile and broadband customers, there will be no refund as there has not been a charge.
  • For Prepaid customers, the charge will be refunded to your prepaid balance.

Activate Spotify Premium

  1. Open the Spark app
  2. Select MySpark from the Menu and sign in if you are asked to

  3. Select Subscriptions under the Products section
  4. Select Spotify Premium
  5. Follow the steps to activate Spotify Premium. To complete the activation of Spotify Premium you'll be taken to the Spotify website to sign-in or create an account.

MySpark

  1. Sign in to MySpark
    Note: If you don't have a MySpark account yet, you can follow these steps to create one. Set up and use MySpark
  2. Select Subscriptions under the Products section
  3. Select Spotify Premium
  4. Follow the steps to activate Spotify Premium. To complete the activation of Spotify Premium you'll be taken to the Spotify website to sign-in or create an account.

    Note: Some internet browsers may block the redirect to Spotify. If you’re having issues getting to the Spotify website to complete your activation, you’ll need to enable pop-ups on your browser or use the Spark app.

If you have an active Spotify Premium subscription, you’ll need to cancel it before activating Spotify Premium with Spark. Go to Cancel Spotify Premium 
From the end of your monthly renewal with Spotify, you can activate Spotify Premium with Spark. You’ll keep your Spotify Premium status and all your playlists.

If the activation link in the SMS isn't working

The activation link may have expired. Follow the steps above to activate Spotify Premium in MySpark or the Spark app.

Download the app and sign in with your Spotify account details.

Keep Spotify Premium when changing plans

  • If you're changing across Spark mobile plans with Spotify Premium included, then your details will remain with your existing Spotify account.
  • If you’re changing from a Spark mobile plan that has Spotify Premium included, and your new plan has the option of discounted Spotify Premium, you’ll need to add this in MySpark or the Spark app. Then activate it again using your existing account information. Follow the steps above in the section How do I add Spotify Premium?, then follow the steps in the section How do I activate Spotify Premium?

How do I cancel Spotify Premium with Spotify?

If you already have an active Spotify Premium subscription, you’ll need to cancel it before activating Spotify Premium with Spark. Go to Cancel Spotify Premium

Cancel Spotify Premium with Spark

If you don't have Spotify Premium included in your plan, you can cancel at any time. Your Spotify Premium will continue to work until the end of your monthly renewal.

  4. Select Spotify Premium
  5. Follow the steps to cancel Spotify Premium.

MySpark

  2. Select Subscriptions under the Products section
  3. Select Spotify Premium
  4. Follow the steps to cancel Spotify Premium.

If you have Spotify Premium included, it can't be cancelled. Check out our mobile plans for other plan options if you no longer need a plan that includes Spotify Premium. View Spark Mobile plans

Manage Spotify data usage

If you're not connected to WiFi, streaming music will use the data included in your plan. An hour of streaming at the normal quality (96kbps) uses approximately 1MB per minute. That's about 17 hours of music per GB of data. Spotify Premium also lets you download songs, playlists and podcasts using your data. Listening to songs, playlists and podcasts you have already downloaded does not use data.

To limit the amount of data you use:

  • When streaming from your mobile on 3G or 4G, set the audio quality to Normal. In your Spotify app; select Settings > Select Music quality to adjust your quality preference.
  • Play music while on WiFi to save your data.
  • Download your music while you're using WiFi, so you can listen to it when you're offline.
