To start using your Xtra Mail, sign in to Webmail. Sign in to Xtra Mail

Start using Xtra Mail

Send an email with Xtra Mail

  1. Select the Compose icon.
    • On a computer, it says Compose, and it's in the tool bar above the list of emails in your inbox.
    • On a phone, it looks like a square with a pencil in it, and it's in the bottom left corner.
  2. Type in the email address of the person you're wanting to email in the To field. You can type in as many email addresses as you'd like in this field. Separate each email address with a comma.
  3. Type in the subject of your email in the Subject field.
  4. Type your email content into the large white box under the subject field.
  5. Select Send.

Reply to an email in Xtra Mail

  1. Select the email you want to reply to.
  2. Select the Reply icon, which looks like an arrow pointing to the left.
  3. If you're replying to many recipients, select the Reply all icon. This icon looks like two arrows pointing to the left.
  4. Compose your email and select Send.

Note: When replying to an email, some of the fields in the email are pre-filled:

  • The sender and any CC'd emails will be in the To field.
  • The subject will already be in the subject field, but Re: will be at the start of the subject.
  • The original email will be in the reply email. Compose your email in the space above this text.

Note: To reply to an email as fast as possible, use the Quick reply option. This is a plain text only option, and you can't change the email format.

Forward an email in Xtra Mail

  1. Select the email you want to forward. If you're using your mobile, you'll first need to select the Edit icon in your inbox's header. It will be in the top right corner, and it will say Edit.
  2. Select the Forward icon, which looks like an arrow pointing to the right. On a mobile this will be at the bottom. On a computer this will be at the top.
  3. Type the recipient(s) into the To field.
  4. Compose your email and select Send.

Note: If you forward an email, some of the email's input fields are pre-filled:

  • The subject will already be in the subject field, but Fwd: will be at the start of the subject.
  • The original email will be in the forwarded email. Compose your email in the space above this text.

Delete an email in Xtra Mail

  1. Select the checkbox(es) next to the email(s) you want to delete. On a mobile device, you'll first need to select the Edit icon in your inbox's header. It's in the top right corner and says Edit.
  2. Select the Delete icon, which looks like a rubbish bin. On a mobile, it's at the bottom. On a computer, it's at the top.

Note: Deleted emails will go to the trash folder. You can recover deleted emails by moving them back to your inbox from the trash folder.

Email filters

An email filter is a way to categorise emails and put them in specific folders. You can filter emails using the sender's email address, or the subject and message content.

  1. Select the menu icon, which looks like three lines stacked on top of each other. It is in the upper right corner of your inbox.
  2. Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select Email from the column menu on the left. It will expand to display submenus.
  4. Select Filter rules.
  5. In this screen, you can add, delete, edit and activate filters.

Block senders in Xtra Mail  

  1. From your mobile or computer, select the menu icon, which looks like three lines stacked on top of each other. It is in the upper right corner of your inbox.
  2. Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select Email from the menu in the column on the left-hand side. It will expand to display submenus.
  4. Select Blacklists.
  5. In this screen, you can add, delete and view blacklist addresses and domains. This lets you block senders.

Make distribution lists in Xtra Mail

  1. Select Address box from the menu in the top right corner. The menu looks like three lines stacked on top of each other.
  2. Select New and then select Add distribution list from the drop-down menu.
  3. Type in a name for the list in the Name field.
  4. Type the first email address to be in the list into the Participants field.
  5. Select Enter to add more addresses.
  6. Once you're finished adding addresses, select Create list.

Note: Currently, you can't create distributions in Webmail on your mobile.

Set up automated email forwarding in Xtra Mail

A new forwarding rule has been created to increase the level of security for Xtra Mail. You'll receive an email every time a mail forwarding rule has been added to one of your email accounts. You can also enable desktop notifications.

Remove the forwarding rule

  1. Select the Menu icon (three stacked lines on the top right side of the screen)
  2. Select settings from the drop-down box and select Email – Mail Forwarding
  3. Tick Disable Forwarding next to any email addressees you didn’t set up and then select Save

If you didn’t set up the forwarding rule, please do the following:

  1. Change your password
  2. Choose a password you've never used for Xtra Mail or any other account
  3. Select the Menu icon (three stacked lines on the top right side of the screen)
  4. Select My account from the drop-down box and select Password
  5. Type the current password in to the pop-up box and select Confirm
  6. Type in a strong new password and select Confirm
