Set up and use Spark Verified Call

Verified Call makes getting calls from Spark safer. You'll know when it's Spark calling by the branding on your screen, so you can answer with confidence.

Learn how to get started with Verified Call and what to do if you're not receiving verified calls. 

Set up Verified Call

  1. Open the Spark app and sign in. If you don't yet have the Spark app, see Set up and use the Spark app
  2. Navigate to Verified Call:
    • Select MySpark from the menu.
    • Select the Profile tab.
    • Select Verified Call.
  3. Check the App permissions:
    • If there's a green tick, the Spark app already has the permissions it needs.
    • If it says Additional permissions required, select Review.
    • Select Allow next to Notifications and Contacts then Allow again when prompted.
  4. Add your phone number:
    • Next to Phone number select Set up.
    • Enter your mobile number, starting with 02. You can only use a New Zealand mobile number, and it needs to be the same phone you have your Spark app on.
    • Select Continue. Then check for a text message from Spark with your six digit verification code.
    • Enter your six digit verification code and select Continue. If it doesn't work, select Resend code to get a new one.
  5. Once you've completed the above steps, the Verified Call toggle will be enabled.
  6. Select the toggle next to Verified Call to turn it on.
  7. Keep yourself signed into the Spark app so you're ready to receive Verified Calls from Spark. 
 

Troubleshooting

If you've set Verified Call up but genuine calls from Spark are coming through as standard calls, without Spark's name, logo and reason for calling, here's what to check.

  1. Open the Spark app and check you're signed in.
    • If you've been signed out, sign back in again.
    • You'll then need to set up Verified Call again using the instructions above.
  2. Navigate to MySpark > Profile > Verified Call.
    • Check the necessary permissions are still there. Select Review to allow any that are missing.
    • Check your phone number is still there. Select Set up to add it if it's missing.
    • Check the Verified Call toggle is turned on.
