Stay connected during an outage

Find out how to stay online if your Spark broadband stops working. Learn how to get free data and national calling on your Spark mobile.

What is Outage Assist?

Outage Assist sends you notifications when Spark detects outages affecting your broadband. We provide free calls, texts and data to help you stay connected until we have fixed the outage. The free allocations will only be for eligible Spark mobiles. You'll be notified once the fault is fixed.

  • Outage Assist is available to Spark Personal and Business customers on a Spark ADSL, VDSL or Fibre Broadband plan.
  • Outage Assist is not available for customers on a Wireless Broadband plan. Managed, Corporate, Enterprise or Government customers are also not included

Eligible mobiles are:

  • Any Spark Pay Monthly mobile plan on the same account as the affected broadband. These mobiles will have Outage Assist applied automatically.
  • You can also register extra mobiles for Outage Assist. These must be a Spark Pay Monthly or Spark Prepaid mobile plan.

Eligible mobiles receive a free Outage Assist extra that includes

  • 14GB max speed data with endless data at reduced speeds - for use in NZ only and can be used to hotspot
  • Unlimited standard NZ texts
  • Unlimited standard NZ calling for person-to-person calls. Excludes premium and special numbers
  • Outage notifications via text

When we detect an outage in your area, mobiles on the same Spark account as the affected broadband service, will receive Outage Assist.

The Outage Assist extra will remain available on all eligible mobiles until 11:59pm on the day Spark fixes the outage. The extra is removed after this time, along with any unused data provided as part of Outage Assist. The included max speed data will automatically refresh after seven days if the outage is unresolved. This will cover you for up to four weeks.

You can check the status of any current outages, manage your Outage Assist Preferences and access tools to help you improve your connection from MySpark
