Top up my mobile

Find out how to top up your Spark mobile plan or buy extras for your plan.  

Using the Spark app

  • You can use the Spark app to top up your prepaid mobile plan and set up auto top up
  • You can also buy extras and set up auto renew for your extras
  • You'll need the latest version of the Spark app. Download the Spark app

You can use the Spark app to top up your prepaid mobile plan.

  1. In the app, tap the menu button and choose MySpark from the menu
  2. Sign in or register to access your account
  3. On the Billing screen, you'll see the option to top up your prepaid plan
  4. On the line you want to top up, choose Top up
  5. Choose an amount between $10 and $100
  6. Select a payment method. You can use a voucher or debit/credit card to top up.
  7. If you have saved a payment method in the app, it's already selected. Tap Change to use a different payment method.

Set up auto top up for your prepaid plans.

  1. In the app, tap the menu button and choose MySpark from the menu
  2. Sign in or register to access your account
  3. On the Billing screen, tap the message about your balance
  4. You'll see the option to set an auto top up if you haven't already
  5. Choose an amount between $10 and $100
  6. Choose whether you'd like to top up every 4 weeks or when your balance is low
  7. If you have saved a payment method in the app, it's already selected. Tap Change to use a different payment method.
  8. Review and confirm the auto top up
Change or cancel an auto top up that you've already set.
  1. In the app, tap the menu button and choose MySpark from the menu
  2. Sign in to access your account
  3. On the Billing screen, you'll see the option to mange your existing auto top up
  4. Choose Edit or Cancel auto top up

Top up your mobile data, minutes or text with an extra.

  1. In the app, tap the menu button and choose MySpark from the menu
  2. Sign in or register to access your account
  3. On the Usage screen, you'll see the option to buy an extra if your data, minutes or texts are running low. To buy an extra at any time, go to the Billing screen and tap the message about your balance.
  4. Select Buy pack or extra
  5. Tap on the card to see more details about the pack/extra
  6. Tap Buy or buy again on the extra you want
  7. Follow the steps to pay for the extra
  8. You can choose whether to auto renew the extra when it expires
  9. You'll get a text message to let you know when your extra is ready to use

Set up auto renew

You can choose to auto renew your extras.

  1. In the app, tap the menu button and choose MySpark from the menu
  2. Sign in to access your account
  3. On the Products screen, select your prepaid line
  4. Scroll down to Auto renew
  5. Choose Set up
  6. Tick the box next to auto renew

Change or cancel auto renew

  1. In the app, tap the menu button and choose MySpark from the menu
  2. Sign in to access your account
  3. On the Products screen, choose the line with the auto renew
  4. Choose Edit or Cancel auto renew

Other ways to top up

Using a voucher

  1. Call *333 from your mobile
  2. Select 1 for top up
  3. Enter your mobile number
  4. Select 1 to top up by voucher number
  5. Enter your voucher number

Using a credit/debit card

  1. Call *333 from your mobile
  2. Select 1 for top up
  3. Enter your mobile number
  4. Select 2 to top up by credit or debit card
  5. Enter the amount you want to top up from $10 to $100. The minimum is $10.
  6. Select 9 to confirm your amount
  7. You'll go to a secure payment facility to enter your details

If you're a BNZ customer, you can use the BNZ mobile app to top up any Prepaid Spark mobile account.

Here's how to top up using the BNZ app:

  1. Select the menu, which looks like three lines stacked on top of each other.
  2. Select Top up.
  3. Select the account you want to pay from.
  4. Enter the mobile number you want to top up and and set the amount.
  5. Select Top up.
  6. Select Confirm.
  7. We'll send you a text to confirm your top up was successful
  • Mobile credit expires 12 months after purchase
  • You need to top up at least once every 12 months so your Prepaid account isn't deactivated
  • Check your top up voucher's expiry date and add the credit to your phone before that date
