Use Spark Security Suite

Spark Security Suite is software that helps keep your computer safe when you’re online. Find out how to install it and use some of its features.

Spark broadband customers receive five free licences for Spark Security Suite. This means you can install it on up to five devices: computers, laptops or tablets.

Note: Spark Security Suite powered by McAfee is only compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 or higher (32-bit and 64-bit) and Windows 7, 8, 8.1 (32-bit and 64-bit) operating systems. 1GB RAM for Vista and Windows 7 required. 2GB RAM for Windows 8 and above. Ensure you have 500MB free drive space and at least a 1GHz processor.

Install or reinstall Spark Security Suite

Use MySpark to install (or reinstall) Spark Security Suite. You'll need to follow these same steps for each device you install the software on:

  1. Sign in to MySpark
  2. Under the product and services menu, select Security
  3. Select Security
  4. Select I accept the terms and conditions
  5. Select Download now

Uninstall Spark Security Suite

If you’re having problems with the suite, removing the software and then reinstalling it can fix it.

Use the McAfee removal tool to uninstall Spark Security Suite:

  1. Download the tool
  2. Select Run
  3. Follow the on screen instructions
  4. Restart your computer

Spark Security Suite updates

We recommend you use automatic updates for the highest level of protection.

  1. When you're online, the software checks for updates every four hours
  2. The software updates when McAfee finds or detects a new virus
  3. When updates download, it'll use your monthly data allowance

Block/unblock apps

  1. Select Firewall on Spark Security Suite's home page
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select Internet connections for programs
  4. Select the app you want to block or unblock
  5. Select Edit
  6. Select Block or Allow from the drop-down menu under Access
  7. Select Save

Block/unblock apps using an older version of Spark Security Suite

  1. Go to Spark Security Suite
  2. Select Internet and network
  3. Select Configure
  4. Under Firewall protection, select Advanced
  5. From the menu on the left, select Program permissions
  6. Select the app you want to block or unblock
  7. Select an action from the list:
    • Allow access
    • Allow outbound-only access
    • Block access
    • Remove program permission
